PRESS
STATEMENT ISSUED: 16TH
APRIL 2009
In
response to a Press Release by Bath & North East Somerset Council,
regarding its in principal proposal to transfer the Fir Fields in Combe Down to the Bath Recreation Ground Trust, to compensate for the land that
would be used by Bath Rugby for a larger stadium. The
Chair of the Trust, Cllr Chris Watt, stated “The
Trustees have been working with third parties on developing proposals for
how benefits can be added to the equation to outweigh the detriments by
keeping the Rugby Club on the Recreation Ground. We are
going to need time to work through the details but I am confident that
this will materially affect the assessment and then, provided the Ruby
Club can also see the benefits of such a proposal, we will have the basis
to put forward an adjusted case to the Charity Commission. Making land available to the city is the most significant development in terms of the benefits on offer throughout this whole process To read the full Press Release click on this link "Council Press Release"
