What is it? The Strategic Review is designed to assist the Review Board, in conjunction with the Charity Commission, to ensure a more, certain and legally secure future for the Recreation Ground. There were two major issues raised by the Commission which were as follows. First, the legality of the leisure centre, as it did not comply strictly with the Trust's purpose which, the Commission believes, is to provide open air recreation. Secondly, the use of the Rec by Bath Rugby club was perceived to be dominant, to the detriment of wider uses and more general access. The Strategic Review was completed in June 2007 and reported to the Trust Board on 6th June. The preferred direction of travel for the Board is to pursue option two and specifically requested the Charity Commission to create a scheme and deliver the specifications outlined in this strategy.
